Stair run for the Milton's and me on a fine Saturday morning. Always a lung buster. Our times are going down but it never feels any better. Then, because it just wasn't enough for them the Milton's came to the gym and did more. Unstoppable bunch. Alex worked on his cleans and squat cleaned 205 and did a snatch/OHS with 165 a PR for him...for the second lift, he can clean 225.

The trick here is that all threee of the 25's are designed to get your lungs going and all three 10's are the same lift (except with different equipment) and are leg killers. At the first set of box jumps Mike, Dave and I all agreed that our legs were fried.

My * is because I specifically remember doing one of my sets of Rage ball as just slam ball. It didn't occur to me until I walked away from the ball and was grabbing the bar and I didn't feel like going back. I don't even remember how many of the Rage Balls were done as simple ball slams but it was at least the last 3...probably all 5. Fail. Adam and Jamie augment our already SF heavy room, and heavy is applicable for them too...big boys. Very, very strong.

The devil is in the details. Funny how small things can really change how something feels. When I came up with Blurred Vision the idea was 3 pulling exercises in a row (row, pullups, hang power snatch) followed by 3 pushing exercises (wall ball, ring pushups, push press) in a row. When I did the workout this morning - alone - it smoked me right from the start. I was sure I saw 16 something as one of the times for this workout so as the time snuck past the 17 minute mark and I was on the verge of looking for a way to injure myself so I could stop, I began to conjur up a variety of excuses for my lame performance. The dog did not eat my homework so I couldn't use that and I don't have a dog...or homework for that matter. So I was pretty much stuck with "I sucked today." In the afternoon smarter people than me showed up and I think it was Alex who pointed out that the workout was done with reps of 15-12-9 and I had done it with 21-15-9. Hmmm, that explained a lot. Everyone dubbed it awful, so it seems as though Blurred Vision has a new rep scheme.

We did our front squats first and afterwards some great ab work. Stand and Deliver was crushing for me because I just can't do an OHS with the dumbbell...or with a barbell for that matter, or a coffee cup. The others rocked it though and all of them did the OHS properly. Great shoulder workout, we were all moaning about our shoulders. I do want to point out that although Rich, Adam and Alex used more weight than me, I did the workout much slower. As Rich so kindly pointed out to me when I gave him that little tidbit, "Well, at least you've got that going for you."

Who the hell is this Rich guy? I think he is really a Honey Badger. You should all go to You Tube search for Honey Badger and look for the one with the gay guy narrating. How will you know it is the right one? If you are laughing hysterically, that's it. Also type in Teasing the Dog and click on the Shepard looking dog looking at you who will talk to you about missing out on some bacon, steak and chicken. Funniest thing ever. EVER. Send it to all your friends, keep a copy on your desktop. Oh, anyway Rich has a long body and loose fur and he doesn't mind being stung by bees. He's a Honey Badger. He just doesn't give a shit. Oh, he can run backwards and eat snakes. And kick the holy bejesus out of a Turkish Bear. Tough little bugger.

Michelle and I went back and forth about which event we found harder, the heavy squat cleans or the Bison. Michelle thought the Bison was harder and I said nay nay. I found the squat clean much harder and had to dump it 3 or 4 times. Rich cut the discussion short and said he didn't hate the squat cleans any more than he hated the Bison, he hated me. Oh sure, hate the messenger. Kick me into the well will you. There was much suffering to be sure but while we suffered for just a quarter of an hour, Steve was banging away for 3/4 of an hour. He gets the suffer prize to be sure.

Double Unders. They are not popular with some folks. In fact, that is putting it mildly. Given the opportunity, there are those in my gym that given the chance would see to it that Double Unders were erased from the collective memory of all living beings. Jennier B...did you do Double Unders and get 18:15? Man, if you did, you have improved your DU skills dramatically. Cherie...welcome back. You show up and I'm not there to see you. Sorry. Michelle B. got her kip on at last. She was very excited to finally get multiple kipping pullups. Kipping is a biggie. I wonder if there is a negative ability to do a thing. Not just unable...something beyond unable. I don't want to expose him here, and thus embarass hiim publically, but his initials are Rich Scaniffe. Anyway, though I beat him in the workout, it was only because of the Double Unders...but, get this, his rope was cut in the middle. Rope in his right hand, rope in his left hand, no rope down in the foot area. Nothing to miss with. No way to actually not be able to jump over the rope...BECAUSE THERE WAS NO ROPE TO HIT YOUR FEET WITH. Somehow he missed. I asked him how he could miss when there was nothing to miss and he demonstrated this very Special Olympics jump rope technique and that he would hit himself in the leg with one or the other rope. Amazing to watch really. He would boost the self esteem of the guy with helmet on and a cork on his fork. He'll get better though...only direction he can go.

No times on the board for Mike and Dave...not sure they timed it. Steve did though and he stared in wonder, as I did, at Dave's 215 for the squat clean. That's just about his bodyweight. Amazing. About all I can do with my body weight is walk around with it and maybe air squats. Explosive entries for us today so I didn't get to go train. Yesterday was Simmunitions training and entries and tomorrow we spend the day shooting. Hope the weather gets to be better, it has been raining like crazy lately.

Two 400 runs, two 500 rows and 4 exercises with reps of 25, 20, 15, 10 all mixed around. As usual it doesn't look bad but interestingly Mike was really worked up over this one. I theorized that it was one that played to his strengths and that he was likely to do very well and thus he had a target on his back. I may have been right in a planning sense but Rich blew my handicapping all to hell as he pulled out a decisive victory. Killer metcon.
