I read an Archie comic a long time ago and in it Jughead was going to be in an eating contest. He had to eat 8 pizzas, or 23 hamburgers or some such thing and just to make sure he could do it, he ate the constest meal before the contest just to be sure he could do it. Similarly, Corey did a 16:11 on his first try at 300 more but was not satisfied with that time after Mike and Dave posted better times...and perhaps because I was only 11 seconds slower than him. So, he did it again and knocked out a day winning 14:16. Of course that wasn't enough so he went and ran the stairs with his Thermopylae killing wife Linda. Amazing.

Most people ruined a run today. I think I could have done this workout too but only if threatened with death and without concern for the time...like it didn't actually have to be finished in the same day. My legs are so sore sitting down on the toilet is filled with drama and adventure. Tourettes I think.

Yesterday was really awful. Today might have been awfuller. Much more awfuller. Tourettes is a very draining workout that gives you that deep down body misery. I would have taken much longer if Jules hadn't been motoring along making me not want to make him wait for the bar. Scott, Bryce and Katie Got Air and in the morning Michelle H. did Monday's workout.

I got humbled today. I have in the past had a north of 20 score on the Tabata Push Press and I mentioned that, quietly and with no fanfare of course, as the others were starting their PP effort. When their scores were, mostly, south of 20 I felt a certain sense of studly superiority. That was short lived however when I did my workout a bit later in the day. When it was my turn I found that doing the row and the AMRAP before the push press dramatically reduces your push press joy and makes holding that bar in the rack just about impossible.

A busy morning this time with lots of takers for the Fat Bar workout. I think I may change the workout a little and replace the Push Press with Hang Power Cleans with the fat bar. That way all three movements, the DL, the HPC and the Pullups ALL conspire to rid you of your grip. The Push Press part only taxed the grip during the clean.

In the Guns of Navarone, did those guys climp up ropes up the big cliff or did they climb the rock wall? I can't remember. Not that I was there watching can't remember, I can't remember from the movie. Anyway, if they climbed ropes they need to be given posthumus awards for being megasuperstuds. I find rope climbing just slightly harder than juggling pissed off Woverines. On fire. In a canoe. Blindfolded. We did 10, 9, 8...and so on down to one reps of the clean and jerk with 5 pound weight increases every set and a rope climb after each set of lefts. It was just a 15 foot rope climb but I felt worthy of that Navarone award. I think I'd rather have surgery on my bowels through my eyeballs than climb that rope anymore. Micah showed up in the morning and Partied while Cherie did ab work. He knocked the party girls out in 24:58. He was just oozing awesome today.

When you are told that you are going to Party with the Girls as your workout it's easy to let your guard down and think nice things. But when you hear that the girls are CF girls with names like Elizabeth, Angie, Helen, Grace, Kelly and Fran...it is likely you will develop a suspicious attitude about what you are about to do. But c'mon, the loads are lighter (bar weight is 50% BW) and you are only going around once with each girl or in the case of Angie just 20 reps of each exercise. Piece of cake. Well, maybe not.

Snatch and Clean and Jerk workout today. Corey and Dave in the morning and then in the afternoon Jules, Jeff, Lance, Sarah, Danielle, Ferngully and I did a snatch and clean and jerk workout with increasing weights. Jules managed a PR of 180 lbs for the clean and jerk. He seems intent on beating me at every turn. Jeff was up over 200. Are those green socks hot or what?

Steve was first to the pullups as he had the lifts in the bag. Corey was better with pullups though as he is doing well with the butterfly method. He was out the door first for the run. Then Lance, then Steve, then Ferngully and then Sarah. My God Ferngully can run. She is not of basketball player height it is fair to say, more like jockey or lawn gnome, but her stride looks positively Ethiopian. Very POSE like and smooth. She was right behind Corey with the run and to the bar about the same time. After that first round everyone had to satisfy themselves with chasing her. Great time.

Oh yeah, I got some looks for this one. Glower's, I hate you stares, the Die you Commie scum scowl. As you might imagine, a solid hour long hammer fest - hurt. Considerably. The idea is simple enough, do six things for as many reps as you can for 10 minutes each. Add them all up and that's your score. Danielle did the Games WOD before she did Hour of Power so that was certainly worth quite a few points. Dave lost some skin from the pull ups and snatches so he was working hurt. I've included the ages of most of us...I took the liberty of being obtuse with some of the women's ages because they generally have the same view of their ages as they do of their weights. They should be left to the imagination.

Monday's are AMRAP days this month and this one proved to be painful from the start...well, it looked like it was. I was stuck in uniform all day having to be a day walker for court. The first amazing thing was Dave's 1:29 for a 500 row. I can't even get to 1:29 let alone pull it for 500. Fabulous. Then he and Corey got 385 which was amazing until Danielle cranked out a 437. Wow, 437. She had to use a band for the dips but that only accounted for 5 of the reps per round. Good double unders are the secret here.

After yesterday's Cheesecake with its 3,000 meters of rowing and 300 reps, todays 125 reps seems, from a rep standpoint, faster and easier. I say nay nay. After a trip to the Cheesecake Factory last year some time a need arose to make up for an extended workout to rid a group of cheesecake eaters of a few excess calories we alegedly consumed while on the premises...and for a day or two following our visit. So, you start your Bear with 55% which is the normal Bear weight and you do that 5 times. Then you go to your Badger and start that with two 35 lb dumbbells. You do a burpee, a squat clean and 5 thrusters, then a burpee, a squat clean and 4 thrusters and so on down to 1. Back to the Bear and add 5 lbs and do 4 of them. Back to the next heavier set of dumbbells, 40, and descend from 4...and so it goes down to 1 to stop the clock. Killer.

Corey, Dave and Jim set the morning standard and stragely enough it was an all male gym this morning on what is usually just gal time. Lots of big guns and big scores in the afternoon but Corey managed to hold everybody off.

Take the Bear and make it a bit Queasy and you have this Queasy Bear. Great, great workout. You'll see Corey on the board again and he will always be very close to if not the top player. He's always tough to beat. I had training this morning and we were out on the tide flats doing some boat boardings...with a caving ladder, not the gangway. Boarding and searching a boat or a ship is quite a task. Those things are like a huge maze inside with narrow ladder wells and more dark forbidding places than the collective memories of Black Sabbath.
