Danielle told me a few days ago how she hoped one of the WOD's would have deadlifts and box jumps in it. As luck would have it she got her wish and she blew the workout, and the rest of us away. Her box jumps were crazy fast. New guy Dave started his CFPC adventure with this workout...what a way to start.

Fellow sweaty people,
Danielle is competing the CF Games over the internet and she does the workouts, I count her reps and validate the scores. We are going to do the Games WOD for tomorrow in order to give Danielle the best chance at doing her best. The workout will be:
9 Deadlifts
12 Pushups
15 Box Jumps
AMRAP in 15 minutes
The Deadlift weight for men under 55 is 155 and the masters group, age 55 and up, use 145...that really works for me. Women use 100 lbs.
The pushups are done normally except that you have to touch your chest to the ground and lift your hands off the ground for the rep to count. Your chest, not your belly button. The back must stay flat throughout the pushup, no worming or ground humping.
The box jumps are 24" for men and 20" for women and me. You just gotta love this master's group thing. Well, maybe not you youngsters but I'm loving it. This is better than a restaurant discount any day. I can do a step up for my age group with the box jumps. I'll use the 20 inch box, but you won't see me doing any step ups. You must stand to full height for the rep to count. None of this jump up on the box with your head between your knees and never stand to full height.
So, we will have half of us working out and half of us counting reps and then switch. We will have to fuss with the boxes and tires to make sure the heights are according to Hoyle. (Did Sarah get that Lance?) I can tell you right now the pushups are going to really slow people down in this workout. That hands off the ground thing is going to be murder.
Each round is worth 36 points so if you managed to get 10 full rounds you would have 360 points. There are 10 1:30 second periods in 15 minutes...can we do those 36 reps in 90 seconds? That's less than 3 seonds per rep including moving from one station to the next and does not account for the developing fatigue...which I have a feeling will come early and with a vengence. I don't expect to be able to get 10 rounds but we should be pushing Danielle to get there.
So, bring your A game to the gym tomorrow and let's give Danielle some scores to beat.

It seems only fitting that with a gym full of dental folks that we have a workout in their honor. Root Canals are the thing of nightmares so a CF workout by that name seemed like a good idea. Maybe so, but doing the workout might be considered unwise xcept for the very well prepared. This one hurt. Oh, Jules hurt his back...an old injury, a pulled muscle in his back. He's allowing himself some recovery time.

The Vietnamese were rather inconsiderate when the spelled their wonderful soup Pho but pronounce it Fa. That is not very fanetic at all. I called this workout today Pho because it is pronounced FA and FA stands for Freaking Awful...of course you can substitute your own F word if you choose. Very lungy workout and Jules beat us all...with Ferngully right on his heels. The trick is to get to the double unders because you can raise your score quickly there if you are good with the rope.

I had training today so I don't think anybody showed up in the morning and it was just Danielle in the afternoon and she did Five and Dime. Midway through she something about kittens, cats or something or other and associated that with those that didn't show up. Great workout but she didn't like doing it alone. I showed up late and worked on my flooring project for the Computrainer up above the TV area pullup bars. It's going to be grand.

Not sure if she still does but she did during the workout. She said it was everything she knows how to do in CrossFit all put together. Three times. She was smiling but on the inside I think she wanted to gouge my eyes out with a grapefruit spoon. Michelle got over he box jump phobia in time to do 120 of them today, this workout would really suck if the box jumps gave you pause.

A long timie ago in a land far, far away...in Georgia and North Carolina back after the earth cooled, after the dinosaurs sacrificed themselves for our use as fuel but during the time of polyester leisure suits, 8-track tapes and when the 6 million dollar man was part of Farrah Fawcett's name - I got to train on obstacle courses that just had to be designed by the Marquuis de Sade himself. One of these obstacles was called the Dirty Name. The dirty name consisted of 3 horizontal logs spaced about 4 feet apart or so at heights of about a foot, 5 feet and perhaps 9 feet or so. You stand on the low one, jump to the middle one and land on your belly, stand on the middle one then jump to the high one. The trick was to not undershoot and flip under and land with a thud on your back and to not overshoot and flip over and land with a thud on your back. Not a bad fall from the middle one but from the high one the fall would invaribly result in some dirty name calling. This workout did not threaten high falls but it did take our wind away.

This was 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours worth of constant hammering to get through this nightmare of a workout and all of us our going to sleep well tonight...well, except for me, I have to work till 4 o'clock in the morning. This was Zach's last workout here as he ships out tomorrow so his reward was to get pummeled by this workout and then eat pizza that the Milton's generously provided. You know that show about not being smarter than a 5th grader? Of course that is an attack on an adult perception that he/she can outsmart an elementary school kid. It is frequently an incorrect perception. Similarly you would think that a 16 year old girl that weighs about 115 lbs would not be a threat in a CrossFit gym. Well yeah, you might think that. But I say nay nay. I called Sarah out before we started and told her I would catch her. She said, very boldly I might add, "Oh no you won't." Of course that was an in my face challenge and I was fangs out hot to beat the impudent little missy. I didn't. She beat me by almost 12 minutes and was within 36 seconds of Zach. We're pretty sure she's on the juice.

Zach and I came in early today to set up for Jacob's Dementia. Lots of bars What we decided on is multiples of loads up to 115. Only 115 you say? Where's the 155's and 135's you're wondering? You note that there are power cleans in there and surely you want to do more than 115 Well, no...not really. Not with this workout. There are just over 1,000 reps to do with this combo along with 1,850 meters of rowing and 1,400 meters of running. Just about every movement we do in our gym is represented here except for muscle ups, OHS, and TGU. There might be a couple others but nothing else comes to mind. Many of the exercises, HSPU, hammer hits, ring dips, GHD situps, ring pushups and the like, aren't really lifts with a load you can write down. You are moving weight of course but you don't record a load for those things. Without consideration of all the many gymnastic's movements and calling the Bear a 30 rep count for its 5 reps since you move the load 30 times (bringing the rep count to 1,025) the amount of weight lifted using my loads for this workout is 40,013 done in 625 reps of lifting which is an average of 65 lbs per rep. I have done each of the workouts in around 50 minutes so this may take about 120 minutes which is 333 lbs per minute lifted but only 5.5 lbs per second. Of course that does not figure in the 400 gymnastics types movements or the double unders, hammer hits and such. This is going to be quite the endeavor.

Ringer Alert. Emily brought her stud monkey boyfriend to the gym today. He is up from hub of the infantry training world, Ft. Benning, to visit his squeeze and visit upon us his untouchableness. The workout is of Steve's invention and he had some self loathing going on considering what this one felt like. Great workout. The cleans were awful.

The Butterfly hurts because you go so fast to get it done. But when you Arm that Butterfly, Heavily, it becomes very antagonistic to the comfort of your day. Zach seemed to not mind the relentless attack of this heavily armed little flutterby, but the rest of us did. I was staggering around like a drunken sailor trying to remember what to do. Tough one.

Tourettes. It's a condition you might be familiar with. For some reason the affliction causes you to swear intermittently. Why not sing show tunes or Shakespeare sonnets? Weird that it's just swearing that happens. The workout of the same name consists of Amazing Squats and Amazing KB Push Press done back to back without rest save for the speed reps at the end. It's enought to make you want to say naughty things.

I got called out and couldn't workout this afternoon. Check out Emily P. Zena in under 5 minutes with 85 and 26, but better than that she managed to flip a 175 lb tire and jump through it 27 times in 3 minutes with is almost 10 times a minute which is tremendous amount of work in that short a period of time. Well done Emily. Sorry I wasn't there to cheer you on.
