Two workouts for Casey today. He knocked out Turkish Bear and then went after Tourettes. Brave fella. Glen was not a big fan of Freefall. He said there was nothing at all good about that workout. He said he was miserable the entire time..."That was awful. I'd rather have the measles." Alex was busy with Amazing Squats and then Amazing Bench, Steve and Joey did Freefall and Amazing Bench and Danielle did a main site WOD and then some OHS work. That girl is getting nutty.

The Big Dripper was for today while yesterday's workout was the Catch. Jim wasn't here yesterday and because he wanted to make up the workout he created Catch the Big Dripper. Genius. The name is just perfect. Unfortunately the rep schemes don't match up properly. The Catch is 4 rounds and BD is just 2. Not sure how he arranged the reps, all Catch and then all BD, Catch, BD, Catch, BD, Catch, Catch. Not a clue. Steve thought we should arrange it C, BD, C, C, BD, C. I think I have to agree. That looks absolutely abysmal. Goes up on the Epic board tomorrow. In August Susan did BD in 41 something and tonight with the same loads she did it 29:25. I'm going to call that a very significant improvement.

Late again today. Sorry Jennifer...she missed her workout. Ought to be OK tomorrow as we are starting really early with some bad guy collection work. Tomorrow is The Big Dripper but I've adjusted it a bit. Should be a little faster this way. Same numbers, same exercises I just shuffled the deck so that the reps match the exercises a bit better.

The extra names for the River Bear workout this morning are the SWAT boys that came to play. Tom discovered that knurling and necklace chains do not mix well when you drop the bar down behind your neck for the back squat part of the Bear. Little Chris discovered that running does not prepare you for the rigors of rowing and Big Chris learned that lifting the train cars and tug boats that he uses in his workouts does not prepare you for the aerobic nightmare of the pace that CrossFit workouts demand. I keep a little book for the many wonderful turns of a phrase that people come up with, sometimes under stress during a workout and other times just in conversation. Danielle wants to do the CF Games and is training up for it. The topic of the games having a Master's age group came up and I mentioned that up in the higher altitudes of my age group many of my peer group is having bypass surgery and heart attacks. Speaking of Lance, Steve, Jennifer B. and me as we are all in "Older than the other kids in the gym" age group category, Danielle said, "You are the most amazingly in shape old people I have every seen." Old people. I am now categorized among the AARP cardholding, mall walking, discount at the restaurant croud. Great.

She can kip to beat the band but that was her first DH pullup. Sammie weighs 55 lbs and managed to flip the 170 lb tire 4 times today. She had on her workouting clothes and she was running, doing pullups and push presses, situps and tire flips...she was tearing it up.

"It has Death in it." That was Emily's comment to Stuart when he asked her what we were doing, well, what they were doing. That pretty well summed it up. Tourettes is Amazing Squats and Amazing KB Push Press together so that the rest breaks are filled with the other lift. That one stings a little. Ray did the 500 down to 100 row on one minute rest and then did Road Rage in just under 4 minutes. Not bad at all for a new guy. He's coming right along. Glen did a 365 back squat before he did Tourettes and did the workout with 225 for the starting squat weight. Mid way through he quipped, "That was stupid, starting with 225." I wish I had the capacity to be stupid and make that choice. I only did 140/160/130 and I was smoked.

CrossFit PC is no CrossFit ADD. Everybody wanted something different today and there were people going in all kinds of different directions. Ray started up today and he is about 9 feet tall. He can really hammer that rower. Sure takes him awhile to squat though...long way to go to that ball. Over achiever Sarah wasn't impressed enough with Thermopylae to just do the workout, she had to burden herself with a 20 lb vest just to make it fair. That girl is going to be a monster. Speaking of monster, Danielle just missed a 185 lb back squat and gave herself no break that early in the workout she did a sub-7 Fran with 65 lbs. Surely she realizes that 45 thrusters with 65 lbs will have an impact on that evenings squat work. She is also working, daily, on her handstands and handstand pushups. She is making me feel inadequate.

The general posture is almost always the same, sweat angel. On your back wondering where all the air went. With the exception of Jim's kneeling posture and Brandon in the tire, the rest of the folks follow the norm and just collapse on their backs. THAT is the sign of a very good workout effort.

It's a quick one but Death to the Infidel never fails to put me into a state of very robust breathing, sweating and heart beats. Funny, no complaints of the gym being too cold tonight.

This is done as a single round for a beginner’s baseline workout and should be under 10 minutes. Two rounds makes it Double Play and that is in the Medium section. Three rounds makes it a Hat Trick and a long Medium or a short Long. Finally you can do 4 rounds which is called Quad Runner and with this one rotate the rep count exercise to exercise for each round.

The performance of the day is either the youngest guy doing a 3:59 or the oldest guy doing the same workout in an amazing 4;32. Glen was in pursuit of the brass ring too with an excellent 4:16. New girl Cherie took off on a tear with her row and was ahead of the other gals for awhile during her Baseline workout but they closed during the air squats and then pulled ahead during the situps. Very, very good first day's performance. Casey was here for his second day and improved on his Baseline from yesterday. He's already off to a great start.

So, who is Joey the wonderboy? Is he a baby kangaroo? No. He is Steve's son and he is 12. Rail thin and crazy fast with the bodyweight stuff. His air squats and lunges are effortless. Today was Steves 1 year anniverary at the gym and he wanted to do BL again. He knocked off about 3:30.

Danielle smoked Ironman with a 42:54 today while Steve and son Joey did Santa Maria with Marotha. Joey ate it up. His air squats and walking lunges were non stop. The pullup bar installation is coming along. It will be nice to have another set on the opposite wall from the original ones. Now you don't have to trek all the way across the gym to do your pullups if you are already on the south side.

New guy Casey came to play today and did a really good job with Baseline. Very enthusiastic and hard charging. In a few months he is going to be a force to be reckoned with.
