As with all the Amazings, the AS is a killer workout. We all found that the middle heavy load was very difficult and the max reps rounds were just painful to endure. 81 reps plus the max reps count. Killer.

My month long fixation with Super Squats concluded today with Zena sandwiched between the squats. This was my first workout in a week because I was sick and the squats set my hamstrings on fire. Nothing like a break to get you to appreciate how hard this work is. Stuart is back and has to ease his injured shoulder back into the CF way. In no time he'll be back to his Grace crushing, jump higher than anybody self...though Jim will give him a run for his jumping money. We have to set up the big tires and see if Jim can jump into the middle.

Someone said one day that if a workout doesn't look so bad on the board it's really bad and when it does look bad it's horrible. Fourplay is a bit different because it looks pretty easy but it's worse than horrible when you actually do it. Never let the low rep count lull you into a sense of ease.

A shallow victory today. Zach beat me on 9 of the 10 elements of the 500. Handily. The ONLY reason I beat him was because he struggles with double unders. Not sure I can quite sing the rope like Lance or Alex but I can do it without self flaggelation, unlike poor Zach who comes away from double unders looking like a follower of Opus Dei. We were way faster than we have been in the past but some of that might be because I replaced parallette hip ups with flutter kicks.

Who said that? I wonder how young you have to be to not know the actor's name that said that or that character he played with the phone in his shoe? Anyway what I missed was beating Zach. A pipe dream most of the time but because the workout was an Epic, an advantage for me, and had KB work and double unders in it, more advantages for me, I thought I might pull it off. Zach admitted that there was a time when I was far enough ahead that he was on the verge of letting me go. But sadly, for me, he soldiered on and I was only one rep of the squat clean thrusters ahead of him when he started doing them. No chance I can go head to head with him with a strength exercise. He blitzed through them and smoked me. That kid is tough to beat. Lance had to do it by himself this morning and that adds 2 or 3 mintues for sure. Dementia...what a killer. Nick was right behind us and his time yesterday was a much larger victory over me in a short than my victory over him in this Epic. I am becoming less and less adequate in my own gym.

First a set of 20-rep squats but without the 3 deep breaths done with the Super Squats. Then Olivia and finish with a breathing set of Super Squats. Very leggy combo. John was introduced to the demands of a short workoiut and his time reflects a lot of time spent contemplating what he was doing. He will come to appreciate the tremendous impact of the short workouts. Actually, I think he might appreciate it now. And by appreciate I mean understand, not enjoy, like or be thankful for.

There is nothing on the schedule on the weekends to give people the chance to make up what they didn't get in during the week. Now while I didn't have an Epic scheduled during the week (it's coming up on Wednesday) Sarah decided that she wanted an Epic. Sarah, the 15 year old. Well, her Dad couldn't let her do an Epic without him so he joined in, and Steve surely was not about to let the Milton's outdo him and Susan...I'm not sure of her motivation but she climbed on board too.

Leave it to Zach to ruin any good thoughts about my performances. With 20 lbs more in the clean and 8 lbs more in each KB he did a 13:31. Yeah, my time was a bit faster but I couldn't have even lifted that 155 and the kettlebells would surely have stroked me out. To make things even more painful he is about 20 lbs lighter than me. CrossFit makes you a better human.

It's not the top four scores I'm impressed with here in this 400 but rather the bottom four. Beth and Michelle H. were pretty close and bother were fairly near the half hour mark which is moving right along. The cyborg mom Jennifer is not known for her blazing speed but still managed to get in a 35:49 which is not far off the mark of B and M. But most impressive of all was John's time as this was only his second workout and he managed to pound himself for over 40 minutes. Welcome to CrossFit John, keep a bucket handy.

Glen brought his blushing bride Inga to the gym today and she tore up Dysexlia. Her aerobic capacity is crazy good. Glen started early to get a bit more aerobically capable before he got her in there, he secretly said he was afraid she would beat him. Sure would be terrible if anyone were to read this and find out. If Glen had Inga's endurance he would be even more superhuman than he is. Emily had her best workout ever with a sub 30 minute Dysexlia. Well done Emily. Tami, Ashlea and Susan limped their way through Artifical Limp and I'm pretty sure I heard a few comments along the way. Something to do with death, sissors, that bastard and other such things. Not sure of the context...or the target now that I think about it. Before the workout Susan lamented my weight choice for her squats and Ashlea reminded her, "Remember, lift more than you can." Way to go Ashlea.

Cindy is the middle of the week recovery tool for he much more difficult events the rest of the week offers. Not that Cindy is easy by any means, but at least it is unladen.

This is really tough. I was sucking wind by the 2nd round and spent a lot of the workout with my hands on my knees looking for more air. Crusher.

Baseline Super Squats Baseline. It was surprising to see how many people were faster on their second Baseline than the first. Clearly getting warmed up like that helps make your time faster.

Star Search is entirely Steve's fault. Well, wait a sec, I made up the workout so I guess some of the blame rests with me but the fact that we were doing it on Sunday...Steve's fault for sure. We had seed times, guesses as to what our times would be and we were all slower than we thought but Steve's guess of my time was crazy close. Eugene 38:00, Steve 53:20, Sarah 40:00, Anthony 46:00, Lance 43:38, Jim 40:00. Steve guessed I would do it in 42:17 and he was only 20 seconds off. Amazing guess.
