Zena is a 3 power cleans, a 50 yard run, 3 KB push presses a 50 yard run repeated 5 times.  Zena rows to MOAB adds the MOAB with a 100 meter row instead of the run, and 10 rounds instead of 5.  That's 3000 meters of rowing and 90 reps of exercise.  Zach did 185 lb cleans, 61 lb push presses and 55 lb MOABs.  That didn't look fun at all.

Wind Tunnel is a new invention designed to do as all my workouts with Wind in the title do, make you do a whole lot of air exchanging. Zach was stupidly fast today and pretty much untouchable. Damien, Eugene the Greater (by default I am Eugene the Lesser but we are going to go by E1 for me and E2 for the improved version just by virtue of me just happening to be in the gym first) and Rich were in the neighborhood but the rest of us were 3 legged sloths chasing cheetas.

River Bear

First we did Workout B then River Bear and finally a 10 minute row reducing the damper by one each minute for max distance. Eugene M. did an absudly fast 9:59 and I said to Zach, “You’re not going to beat that…nobody will beat that time.” I’d like to say that I was simply being motivating, but I actually didn’t think he would beat that time. Zach smoked that time. I won’t doubt him again.

Snow. Freezing cold temps. Trees down. No power. That really messed up the week for most of us. People were catching up on their workouts and doing them on different days and Sarah has been all over that rower. I think she sneaks in here at night. It's Saturday now and she is at 371,000 and she will probably do 20k more. Nuts, she's just nuts.

Mostly Rowing

Though Sarah and I did Workout A, mostly we rowed. I went 41,000 but I think Sarah did 45,000. I was just under and she was just over 26 miles of rowing for the day. That seems to put it into perspective. We are both now around 350,000 meters for the month which is around 218 miles. She is a nightmare to try and keep up with.

There was a sports expo at the Tacoma Convention Center this weekend with some 50 sports represented to include CrossFit. I jammed a bunch of stuff from my gym into my trailer and brought it to the the third floor of that giant place and set up for some WOD workouts for whoever came to play. Interestingly the vast majority of those who came to do the WOD were already CrossFitters. I set up for Grendel and Morgan from Tacoma CrossFit got the best score and his wife Lisa got the best women's score. The have two children who will win the games in 2030 methinks. fun weekend.

The Hot Gait is a play on the Hot Gates of Sparta fame.  In this case rather then a spa like atmosphere of steam like sauna, it is your gait that becomes hot...especially after the lifting workout.

An Animal Regatta is not a rowing competition for a bunch of zoo creatures...rather it is a bunch of zoo creature named exercises with rowing in between.  It was waaaay harder than any of us thought it would be but that was primarily because of the Butterfly and the Bison.  Especially the Bison.  That miserable thing seemed like it took half the workout.  Killer.

Workout B first, squats, press and power clean and then Wind Tunnel which is 10 250 meter rows with 5 5 different exercises done after each row...of course the exercises are repeated twice.  No way in the world Damien and I would have gone as fast as we did if we weren't bumping heads as we were.  He called time just a fraction of a second before I did but within the same second.

When I left the gym tonight I was at 75,000 meters and Sarah was at 74,000.  I know that didn't last long though because I set up a movie, Thor, and left with Rich, Tiffany and Sarah rowing.  It is likely that I will have to do 25,000 meters tomorrow to catch up.  It's likely we will be over 100,000 in the first week.

I rowed 10,000 this morning and then came in early to get in a bit more rowing in order to get a comfortable, insurmountable lead over the row champ, Sarah. She surmounted it and got way out in front and then Rich and Tiff rowed 10,000 after the workout…but I don’t know what they got to. I didn’t want to know but it was more than me. Sarah has to be stopped.

Just the Second Day of the year

Today was workout A which is squat, bench and deadlift. After that we descended from 1000 to 100 alternating hard and EZ and then we rowed a bit more…especially Sarah. She is in the lead with 24,000 meters already. It was just yesterday that we had that midnight row but since that row Rich and I spent 24 hours up on the mountain hunting that guy that shot the Ranger at Mt. Rainier. Seems like it should be the 3rd.

At midnight Rich, Tiffany and Steve joined me in the gym to begin our rowing adventure. Steve and I, sensibly, rowed 5,000 meters but Rich rowed 10,000 and Tiff rowed a but more so Rich rowed a bit more…he could not let her get ahead.
