The original WOD was Day off Tomorrow but it was too much like Probably American so I made up something else. I came up with At The Agogae which is 400 meter runs with a net climb, 2 rope climbs, 3 stone cleans, 4 tire flips and 5 burpee pullovers with a 6th run after that. During the workout Tiffany said, "Even my baby hates you." Zach was typically blazing and ate our collective lunches. What a day for Steve to come back. He has been out with some shoulder issues and managed to stumble into this horror. Killer. We used a 95 lb stone for the cleans...except for Rich, he used a 142 pounder. Sammie managed to shoulder a 60 lb ball at 54 lbs. She's 9 and pound for pound the strongest person in the gym.

"Probably American" is what one of the sharks in the sunken submarine says in "Finding Nemo" as an expression of who he thought took Nemo from the dropoff...though for the record it was an Aussie dentist. This workout because of its superior quaility, union backing and crushing difficulty deserves to be called American. It was right up there with B5 and Kitchen Cinco. Krista did it earlier in the day, then Zach with absurd weights and finally Rich and I suffered through. We were miserable from the start and would rather have joined Chris and Lisa and their Honey Badger wrestling. Lisa managed 1218 and 150 of that was Air Squats. That's 30 Air Squats a minute for 5 minutes. One every 30 seconds. Who ocan do that? Well, Lisa apparently.

A short Shuttle Run replace the Thai kicks and the run is about 3/4 of the width of the gym. I moved some of the events around a bit to balance things out and the new arrangement seems better. Painful still, but a nice flow. The only slight conflict is going from the ring pushups to the KB Push Press...try as I might though, I could not move things around to avoid some other sort of back to back conflict. This will just have to do. Krista and Red went head to head this morning and Red put 52 reps on Krista. Good fight though the whole thing. The surprise killer effort, aside from Jeff's terrific 908) was Jennika's 866. Her last three scores of 130 140 and 110 put her over the top of most everyone. She said she never stopped for the air squats and just kept going the whole time. I can't even chew gum for 5 minutes without resting. Air Squats? I sit on the toilet for a long time because I'm resting.

Steve Lee is insane. He came up with Steve's Insanity and it is 5 1/2 buckets of yuck. It looked kind of hard so I decided that we would do the strength training after. As it turned out, after is going to be this weekend...or next week. Tomorrow we will be doing Honey Badger and that is one full hour of lousy...so we won't be doing any strength work tomorrow either. Big Phat Helen wasn't enough for Krista so she did Wheezy afterwards. Rich had to wait 15 minutes after the workout before he drove home. He was still under the influence of CF so he had to recover a bit.

So, new girl walks into the gym and says she has never really worked out very much and is out of shape and wants to do CrossFit to become more fit. So something nice and easy, a smooth transition from couch potato to superstar right? Well, it didn't work out that way. She the strength workout first, back squat and bench press, then Wheezy and finally Ab Rower. She soldiered through each one without complaint and then she died. No just kidding, she looked just fine. Very impressive work ethic. She'll be here on Wednesday for the Epic...Honey Badger.

This weekend is why people put up with all the rain and cold. Absolutely perfect weather. Just Zach on Saturday and he did Fran with a 96 lb Atlas stone in 7:51. I pretty sure I would have hurt myself if I tried that. If God wanted you to put those stones over your head he wouldn't have made them so stupid heavy. On Sunday Zach came back and did a 115 lb overhead carry for 400 meters with 20 burpees every time he put down the bar. He had to set it down 5 times so he had 100 burpees to do on top of the carry. Took him 20:07. I would have had a concussion.

After yesterday's metabolic nightmare a heavy thing was in order. Unlike the other kind of same sounding thing, this lasted a long time and didn't feel good. Zach, as if this should come as a surprise to anyone, was a step above and did the workout with absolutely crazy weights and did it in a very good time. Great workout, I'll remember it through the weekend. Zach was playing with his balls again today. He made three more...another 95, another 115 and a bigger one...142 I think. All I can do with that one is roll it around the gym.

If you have COPD you have great difficulty breathing, you can't work very fast or hard and an ambulance ride to the hospital is in your future. Similarly, when you do COPD simulator you have grreat difficulty breathing, you can't work very hard or fast and you really would like to get in an ambulance and go to the hospital. The usual joyful banter was replaced by awful, hurtful words and gestures that made me cry. I defense of those that berated me and all my ancestors, it really was an awful workout. Glad to be done with that one and it gets the infamous really friggin hard red star for sure.

Rich showed his rowing prowess by really tearing up Rowmaggedon but Bryce was ot on his heels. That was Bryce's best workout so far and he has had a lot of good ones. Gracie from Okinawa was here and as she was doing her beautiful Butterfly Pullups Rich said, "This aint her first Rodeo." Well that's for sure. She's Level 1 certified and her experience is easy to see...especially in her double unders. The rope sounds like one long whistling sound. Rich almost left. Rowmageddon was as miserable as it has always been and tomorrow we do COPD Simulator which is new but will probably have a similar effect.

Lifting heavy stuff is just plain uncomfortable. Why do people do this? Maybe a nice step aerobics class or Pilates will be in order so it's just not so doggone hard. Before we started Rich said, "I'm nervous." Now what kind of thing is that? Shouldn't we be a bit more relaxed and comfortable? Shouldn't we be doing this to feel good about ourselves, to feel empowered, to feel...(surely there i some other new age bullshit word I can come up with here) as if we are in control of our expressive physical natures? Rather than Pukie the Clown maybe our mascot should be Ulrich the Unicorn. We'll have a white unicorn with a rainbow banner fluttering behind him, pastel colored leg warmers and rubber coated 5 lb dumbbells. Yeah, I'm feeling empowered.

Not a lot of takers today...looks like Friday is a favorite day off. Bryce really tore up A Nice Run Ruined, very fast. Zach's workout was some nutty thing with the log and carrying it 800 meters and burpees every 3 minutes...nutty. Tourettes smoked me again as it always does. Really an ugly combination. Krista came in and rowed Major Tom.
